The posts below are unpaid volunteering opportunities for people to help develop Working with Words while gaining work experience.

Hand holding mouseSupport worker

Duties: To help the Trainer to prepare and deliver IT training to people with learning disabilities.
This involves adapting training materials as well as preparing appropriate materials; consulting with the Manager on course plans; evaluating trainee progress, including collating information on attendance and progress
Essential Skills: Computer skills, Word, Internet. Digital camera
Desirable Skills: Knowledge of photo editing and desktop publishing

Information signMarketing Assistant

Duties: Help us to get contracts to make information accessible. Research details of appropriate people in companies/organisations, write to them, and follow them up. Produce materials to help market Working with Words. Organise the databases.
Essential skills: Experience of marketing; literate; good telephone skills; IT literate.

hands on keyboardDesign assistant

Duties: Helping to make accessible leaflets, posters and web pages
Essential Skills: The ability to produce clear designs for print
Experience using Adobe Photo Shop and InDesign
Desirable Skills: Some experience of web design and using DreamWeaver. Also some skills at audio editing (ideally using Cubase or Wavelab)

There are no age or gender restrictions.

We reimburse travel expenses, and give an induction and support.
