Working with Words became a Company in May 1998. During that time, we have trained 130 people with learning difficulties, have helped make information accessible for many companies, Councils, Government departments and other organisations.

Working with Words is working with Advocacy in Greenwich (GCAP) on a project. We want to make the way services help people with learning disabilities better. We have held several workshops to find out about people’s experiences with the Housing Department, Citizen Advice and the Police.

  • Working with Words has helped develop the accessible mcch web site at www.mcchconnect.co.uk. We also provided some introductory training to help service users begin to contribute to the site.
  • The site also has a message board which was designed with Echo computers in Kent.
  • mcch are celebrating their 20 year anniversary in September this year. Find out more from the main mcch web site.

New work

  • We are working with the Valuing People Support Team on their report of their 'Getting a Life' event. We have completed work on an accessible version of their Bulletin and on a flier for their 'Getting a Life' event.
  • We are working with Legal Services to produce accessible versions of two of their leaflets.
  • We are working with iDeA (Improvement and Development Agency for local government) to produce an accessible version of their report on commissioning services for people with learning disabilities.
  • We produced an accessible leaflet with the Financial Ombudsman Service
  • We designed an accessible web site for people with learning disabilities with mcch Charity
  • We are working with Greenwich Citizen Advocacy on the "I'm a Person Too" project to train public organisations on working with people with learning difficulties
  • We have compleed our work with the Nationwide Building Society on an easy read leaflet about their Cash Card Account
  • We have finished our work with the Learning and Skills Council to produce an accessible version of "Learning for Living and Working in London"
  • We are working again with the Bromley Council on the final version of their day service strategy
  • We have nearly completed our work with Greenwich Community Learning Disability Team on a leaflet about 'self harm'
  • We have produced documents for the December 2008 Learning Disability Partnership Board meeting in Greenwich
  • We are working with Wiltshire County Council to produce an accessible web site for people with learning disabilities in WIltshire
  • We are working with Greenwich Adult Services on the Greenwich Learning Disabilities web site at www.greenwichvaluingpeople.org.uk.
